Katadyn Group signed an agreement to acquire the assets of Hydro-Photon Inc., the maker of the SteriPen ultraviolet, handheld water purifier. The acquisition is planned to close near the end of July 2017.

SteriPen will provide new purification products to our customers, allowing Katadyn the widest range of safe drinking water options for travelers, backpackers, militaries and humanitarian organizations around the world.”

SteriPen’s marketing and distribution operations will move to Katadyn’s North American headquarters in Minneapolis, MN. SteriPen will maintain a small technical office in Ellsworth, ME.

Katadyn Group has acquired a number of brands in the last decade, including Optimus Stoves, AlpineAire Foods and Spectra Watermakers. It offers a broad assortment of water treatment, stoves and cook sets and freeze-dried foods.
