Huub, the maker of wetsuits, clothing accessories and goggles, has added British triathlete Gordon Benson to its roster of ambassadors.
Benson was the Team GB ‘pilot’ at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Following his national title win last weekend at the Blenheim Triathlon, Gordon competed in Leeds against a number of high profile international athletes who are also supported by Huub. These include Olympic Gold Silver and Bronze medal athletes from Rio Alistair and Jonny Brownlee and Henri Scheoeman as well as Derby’s own Tom Bishop.
Benson said, “It’s great to have signed with Huub going forward. I’m confident that I’m now swimming in the quickest gear available and am already seeing the benefits of the Huub Albacore tri suit. I’m excited for what’s to come in both the partnership and in my results.”
Dean Jackson, founder and owner of Huub, said, “We are obviously delighted that Gordon has joined the Huub family of athletes and we look forward to working with him throughout his training for Tokyo 2020 to complement his training with our range of scientifically-designed triathlon kit.
“Gordon is an incredibly positive athlete and a pleasure to work with. Having proved himself countless times we are delighted to be working with not only a tremendous athlete but a true down to earth, great person.”
Gordon Benson (23) is a member of the UK Sport Lottery Funded World-Class Performance Squad and is based at the Leeds Performance Centre where he is coached by Jack Maitland and Malcolm Brown. He won gold representing Team GB at the 2015 European Games in Baku. He was supported by Tom Bishop and Philip Graves to win the title.
He was in the bronze medal-winning Great Britain Team at the Hamburg ITU Triathlon Mixed Relay World Championships in 2015, following a gold in the mixed junior/U23 relay at the 2014 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Edmonton. He also won individual U23 bronze in Edmonton and is a former U23 European Champion.
Gordon was voted the British Triathlon Male Elite Junior Triathlete of the Year 2011 and 2012.
