Urban Climber Magazine and Big City Mountaineers have inked partnership deal to inspire urban youth to climb. The partnership will initially focus on promoting the mission of Big City Mountaineers in the Magazine, and copies of Urban Climber Magazine will be made available to Big City Mountaineers' network of volunteers.
“For many of us that live in urban settings, integrating wilderness activities into our recreational lifestyle is the norm,” explained Mark Godley, Executive Director of Big City Mountaineers. “But for many inner-city teens, they have never had an opportunity to get out of their concrete worlds much less experience the majesty of the backcountry. This is the problem our non-profit addresses,” he added.
“By inspiring urban youth to explore traditional wilderness experiences, like climbing, in an urban setting, Urban Climber Magazine embraces the mission of Big City Mountaineers in a new and innovative way. There is a natural parallel in the missions of our organizations, and we believe that our innovative and inspiring volunteer program will be very appealing to the next generation of climbers for which Urban Climber Magazine is their core read.” Godley said.
“Urban Climber Magazine is committed to support Big City Mountaineers to achieve a lasting presence in America's urban centers,” Mark Crowther, Publishing Director of Urban Climber Magazine said. “And to make it possible for more urban youth to benefit from a Big City Mountaineers experience,” he added.
