François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of Kering, the parent of Puma and Volcom as well as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and other luxury brands, has joined a number of executives protesting President Trump’s executive order blocking immigrants of seven Muslim majority countries from entering the U.S. for 90 days.
In a message on Kering’s Twitter account, Pinault wrote: “At a time when diversity is at stake, I want to reaffirm how crucial this value is to me and to Kering. Diversity of origin, opinion and belief is part of our identity and our success.”
Pinault has long supported socially, ethically, economically and environmentally sustainable businesses. He is chairman of the Kering Foundation, which combats violence against women. Execs from Nike, Adidas, REI and Columbia Sportswear have also spoken out against the travel ban.
