The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Jumpking Inc., of Mesquite, TX, has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 1.2 million Reebok and NordicTrack Chrome Dumbbells. The company is issuing the recall because the product does not fit together properly, potentially causing the weights to fall off the handles and strike the user.
Jumpking has received nine reports of weights falling off handles including five consumers who received injuries such as bruising, a broken nose, and a broken toe. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
The chrome dumbbells, which weigh between 2 and 50 pounds and have the Reebok or NordicTrack trademark name, are currently sold at Gart Sports, Sears, Target, and “other retail stores who carry sporting good products nationwide” from June 2000 through May 14, 2004.
