Rebel Sports Reports Solid YTD

New Zealand’s Rebel Sports is reporting that it’s 2003-04 fiscal year sales were up 10.3% to NZ$305.4 million ($192.0 million). Results included the recently acquired ‘Glue’ lifestyle stores. Comparable store sales for the chain, including Glue, increased 2.4%, while overall sales adjusted to reflect the same number of selling days, year-on-year were up 7.9%.

The company’s fourth quarter sales were reported up 10.3%, while quarterly comp store sales were up 7.3%. The company said that sales increased in all categories, thanks to more targeted promotion during its annual sale, which included not only footwear and apparel, but also hard goods.

The winter season has apparently started off slow, but the company said it is happy to see that snow is falling and most lifts are running. The majority of NZ resorts are reporting increased bookings for the holiday period, causing Rebel Executives to feel optimistic about their ski-rental business.
