Dick’s Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS) set re-opening celebrations in former Sports Authority stores in Elk Grove, CA; Seattle, WA; and West El Paso, TX.
The three-day grand opening celebrations for all stores will run through Sunday, December 4. The store at in Elk Grove is located at Laguna Gateway at 8127 Laguna Blvd. The location represents its 47th store in California. Former Sacramento center Brad Miller will make an in-store appearance on Saturday.
The Seattle location is at Northgate North at 328 NE Northgate Way. It represents its 11th store in Washington. Seattle running back Christine Michael will make an in-store appearance from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.
The West El Paso location is at Sunland Plaza 801 Sunland Park Drive. It represents its 32nd store in Texas. Former Dallas safety Darren Woodson will make an in-store appearance from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
As part of a bankruptcy auction, Dick’s bought the Sports Authority brand name and other intellectual property for $15 million and the rights to 31 of the chain’s leases throughout the country. The company has determined to retain 22 of these leases for conversion to Dick’s Sporting Goods stores.
