Black Diamond Equipment, a climbing, skiing and mountain sports equipment company, and Access Fund, a national climbing advocacy group, are set to kick off the fall circuit of the 2016 ROCK Project Tour.
Black Diamond athletes, indoor climbing gyms and local climbing advocacy organizations will team up again this fall to host a series of exclusive, multi-day events, including climbing clinics, presentations, stewardship projects and parties.
This weekend, November 5-6, ROCK (Responsible Outdoor Climbing Knowledge) Project will events to Raleigh, NC, including a stewardship project at Sauratown Mountain, one of the most visited climbing areas in North Carolina. Designated work projects will include a trash clean up, graffiti removal and trail maintenance.
At Triangle Rock Club, a climbing gym in Raleigh, there will be climbing clinics, gear raffles, athlete poster signings and presentations and a fundraising party for the Carolinas Climber Coalition.
Professional climbers will participate in the tour, including Tommy Caldwell, Joe Kinder, Sam Elias, Colette McInerney, Brittany Griffith, Carlo Traversi, Nina Williams and Jean-Pierre Ouellet. After the tour’s first stop in Raleigh, the athletes will road trip to Kentucky’s Red River Gorge to undertake a stewardship project on November 8-10.
The ROCK Project Tour makes its next stop in the Washington, D.C. area, November 12-13, at Earth Treks Climbing Center. A graffiti and trash removal project is scheduled at a nearby climbing area on Sunday, November 13, along with a fundraising party, climbing clinics and athlete presentations on Saturday at Earth Treks.
