Rack Room Shoes raised $1.46 million during its annual Shoes That Fit campaign this year, exceeding its 2016 goal of $1 million. Shoes That Fit aims to supply children in need with new shoes.
During its back to school campaign, Charlotte, NC-based Rack Room Shoes invited customers to give to the cause through in-store and online contributions, which resulted in $810,000 in customer donations. Rack Room Shoes’ additional 2015 holiday fundraising and corporate donation pushed the final amount to more than $1.4 million.
The money raised will be channeled through local school liaisons who will identify students and school systems in need, while also coordinating the distribution of new footwear.
“Our team is certainly humbled by our customers’ willingness to join our company-wide mission of supporting programs, such as Shoes That Fit, that provide children with a strong foundation for the future,” said Mark Lardie, Rack Room Shoes President and CEO. “We wouldn’t be able to impact our communities in such a profound way without their generosity and support, and we are unbelievably happy that we exceeded our 2016 goal.”
This year’s donation will provide new footwear to approximately 25,000 students, allowing them to attend school in dignity and focus on their studies and performance in the classroom.
