Nike reportedly is reducing the price of LeBron James’ Nike signature sneakers. The upcoming LeBron 14 shoe will sell for $175, down from the $200 price tag for the LeBron 13.
News of the price drop emerged on Wednesday morning via a tweet from @IcySoleOnline. A retailer confirmed to Solecollector that the price on the LeBron 14 will be $175.
On its first quarter conference call in late May, Foot Locker attributed the weakness it was seeing in basketball to its LeBron and KD product, a challenge which the company has been addressing with Nike.
Said Dick Johnson, president and CEO, at the time, “Between Nike resetting the price/value relationship of many of its shoes and focusing their incredible innovation engine, along with the strength of Under Armour and potential momentum at Adidas, we are confident that by the back half of the year there will be in place all the elements of a more he robust, diverse, signature basketball business.”
Solecollector noted that Kevin Durant’s latest signature shoe starts at $150, down from $180 for the previous pair.
