Russell Corporation has raised its guidance for fiscal 2004 net income to $1.40 to $1.60 per share given the recent change in cotton prices and projected cost savings from its Operational Improvement Program. Previously, the Company had indicated that it expected fiscal 2004 net income to be in the range of $1.35 to $1.55 per share.

The Company continues to forecast 2003-fourth quarter net income, before any expenses associated with its Operational Improvement Program, to be in the range of $0.41 to $0.49 per share. Sales for the 2003-fourth quarter are projected to be near the lower end of the Company's guidance of $325 million to $345 million due to the recent warm weather impacting retail sales.
