Adidas Execs Meet in Rio to Discuss Suarez’s Fate

Adidas executives held an emergency meeting in Rio de Janeiro Wednesday to discuss the fate of Uruguayan soccer star Luis Suarez after images of him apparently biting an Italian defender were beamed to millions of fans watching the FIFA World Cup 2014 tournament.

An Adidas spokesperson told media outlets that the German company would await FIFA’s full investigation into the incident until responding, but the brand had warned Suarez last year he could lose his sponsorship after he was suspended for 10 games for biting a player while playing for Chelsea in the English Premier League. The World Cup incident marks at least the third time Suarez has been charged with biting an opposing player.
