Lids was awarded the rights to operate retail concessions inside Rexall Place, the home arena of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers and its junior team, the Western Hockey League’s Edmonton Oil Kings. The deal marks the first NHL relationship for Lids Sports Group.
Lids will be operating include 5 locations within the Rexall Place arena. It will also run the official “The Oilers Store” in Kingsway Mall.
Last month Lids Sports Group acquired Albert-based Game On Sports, a licensed apparel, headwear and novelty retailer who had been the official retail partner of the Edmonton Oilers since 2004. Game On Sports has four brick-and-mortar stores in Alberta, plus three more located near Vancouver in British Columbia.
Though Lids Clubhouse, Lids operates storefronts, e-commerce, and retail for game-day concessions and special events for more than 25 professional sports team and organizations, and collegiate athletic programs. They include the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, New York Jets, University of Florida and the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Lids Clubhouse was formed in 2010 with Lids acquisition of Sports Avenue.
