Astral, the NOrth Carolina-based maker of PFDs, named Daniel Windham as the newest addition to its R&D team. Windham has been an active contributor to the Astral brand for years by assisting with special events, contributing to initial design concepts for the company’s successful Limited Edition (LE) program, and assisting the Astral marketing team in their grassroots campaigns.
Formally trained in landscape architecture at the University of Georgia, Windham has a comprehensive knowledge of design fundamentals. He has been actively involved in the Outdoor Industry as both an athlete and former associate for Rocky Mounts in Boulder, Colorado. To propel his talents even further, Windham has joined Astral’s lead designer and CEO Philip Curry where he assists in creating unique and necessary products for the next generation of outdoor athletes.
Astral’s General Manager Yonton Mehler commented, “We are really proud to have Daniel as a part of our R&D team. He is such a talented artist and athlete, so his understanding of the product and Astral’s culture is right on point. On top of that he comes with a great understanding of design and the product development process. Daniel is starting his employment at Astral with an extended apprenticeship with Philip Curry in our Southeast Asia R&D center.”
Curry and his design team are currently focused on growing the Astral product line in preparations for OR Summer Market 2012
