Dillard’s, Inc. reported that merchandise sales (“sales”) for the 36 days ended Jan. 1, 2012 were $1.11 billion compared to sales for the 36 days ended Jan. 2, 2011 of $1.08 billion. Total sales increased 3 percent.
Sales for the 48 weeks ended Jan. 1, 2012 were $5.84 billion compared to sales for the 48 weeks ended Jan. 2, 2011 of $5.65 billion. Total sales increased 3 percent. Comparable store sales increased 4 percent for the 48 weeks ended Jan. 1, 2012. The 48-week period includes the 36-day December fiscal month.
During the 36 days ended Jan. 1, 2012, sales were slightly above the average total company trend in the Central region and below trend in the Eastern and Western regions. Sales in shoes and cosmetics were significantly above trend during the 36 days ended Jan. 1, 2012. Sales in the home and furniture category were significantly below trend.
