Berkeley, Calif. – March 4, 2025 – Helinox, the brand that created the category of lightweight, packable furniture, today introduces Chair One (re), an entirely new design that reimagines the architecture of Chair One, the original packable camp chair. Chair One (re) is more comfortable, stable and, for the first time, integrates repurposed aluminium shavings from the manufacturing process.

To create the original Chair One, introduced in 2012, the Helinox design team flipped tent architecture upside down so the tension line is under you vs. overhead, supporting your weight instead of the tent structure.

The architecture of Chair One (re) advances the original design with new dual-tension technology, dubbed (re)Tension Design. This innovative approach adds a second tension line within the perimeter of the chair to distribute weight around the frame for enhanced comfort and stability. (re)Tension Design is also available in the new Chair One High-Back (re), which features additional shoulder and upper back support.

Additionally, Chair One (re) and the high-back version integrate reclaimed aluminum shavings. The process, pioneered and tested by DAC for Helinox, transforms the shavings into pure alloy discs. These are then blended with virgin aluminum to create parts of the chair frame, minimizing waste and reducing environmental impact.

“With the new Chair One (re), sitting is believing. You can feel an immediate difference in comfort and stability, which achieves our goal of inviting people to spend more time together, outside, having fun,” said Courtney Matthews, Vice President of Marketing, Helinox USA. “We’re also very proud to be using reclaimed aluminum from our factory, which further supports our efforts, using recycled materials and our proprietary green anodization process, among other initiatives, to reduce the environmental impact. The durability, comfort, and stability of Chair One (re) are second to none.”

The Chair One (re) frame is crafted from a proprietary DAC aluminum alloy and redesigned nylon resin hubs, enhancing stability and providing a stronger, more durable structure with up to a 320 lb (145 kg) capacity. The underseat cross bar is 30 percent taller, offering a more accessible seat height (vs. the original Chair One). Shock-corded poles lock the frame into place for quick and intuitive set up and stow. The seat fabric, high-performance recycled 300D polyester, is bluesign-certified and features an integrated pocket for essentials and mesh paneling for ventilation, and new TPU molded corner pockets increase durability and comfort and make the chair easier to set up.

Chair One (re) comes in eight colorways. Chair One High-Back (re) and comes in seven colorways. The best-selling original Chair One will remain in the Helinox collection. The new Chair One (re) and Chair One High-Back (re) are available at helinox.com and in specialty retail stores.
