Adidas AG announced that Arthur Hoeld, an executive board member responsible for global sales, will step down at the end of October. Mathieu Sidokpohou, the current managing director for Europe, will succeed him effective November 1.

Adidas said Hoeld had informed Adidas AG’s supervisory board that he would not extend his executive board mandate beyond March 31, 2026. The supervisory board accepted his decision and both parties mutually agreed on the early termination of his appointment as an Executive Board member with effect from the end of October 31, 2024.

Sidokpohou joined the company in 2020 as general manager of Adidas France. In July 2021, he became Cluster South Europe’s general manager before taking over as managing director for Europe in 2023.

Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden said “Mathieu has exactly the experience and the attitude that we need at this point of our turnaround to continue the momentum and further grow our business together with our partners. Mathieu and his team have led the recent success in our home market, Europe, which grew by more than 20 percent. I really look forward to working with him and to seize the opportunities ahead of us.

Gulden continued, “I would also like to thank Arthur for his partnership when I started my new role at Adidas, for his strong dedication to the brand and for all the great achievements made under his leadership,” said Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden.”

Hoeld joined Adidas in 1998. Before his appointment as an executive board member for global sales, he held various leadership positions across global brands and the EMEA region, including SVP brand strategy and business development, general manager for Originals and managing director for the EMEA at Adidas.

Thomas Rabe, chairman of the supervisory board of Adidas AG said, “On behalf of the Supervisory Board, I would like to thank Arthur for his dedication, passion and leadership. With his strong commercial experience and brand track record, he celebrated many successes over the last two decades and was an integral part of our turnaround. We wish him all the best for his future endeavors.

“At the same time, we are pleased that with Mathieu we are once again able to appoint an excellent internal candidate to the Executive Board. He brings a strong omnichannel commercial experience both from his time at Adidas and from leading global retailers to his new role on our Executive Board,” continued Rabe.

As of November 1, 2024, the company’s Executive Board will include Bjørn Gulden, CEO; Harm Ohlmeyer, CFO; Michelle Robertson, global human resources, people and culture; and Mathieu Sidokpohou, global sales.
