New Era and Newcastle United dropped an exclusive range of headwear on May 29, timed with the football club launching its new retail website and temporary stadium store.
An initial collection of New Era silhouettes in Newcastle United colors, the professional football club based in the North East of England, will be one of the first product lines available on the new ‘shop.newcastleunited.com’ site and will also be available to pick up from a temporary retail store which opened at Strawberry Place on the same day.
As part of the collaboration, the new core collection will put a Newcastle United twist on New Era’s iconic styles. Featuring a black base, club crest and a contrasting New Era flag logo on the left-hand side, the range will include the brand’s curved 9Forty, unstructured 9Twenty, the snapback Trucker, Bucket hat, and cuff Beanie styles.
New Era will introduce a limited-edition 59Fifty cap with contrasting white stitching throughout to celebrate the new range, calling out iconic Newcastle United phrasing.
Peter Silverstone, chief commercial officer at Newcastle United, said, “We are excited to be collaborating with such an iconic, market-leading headwear brand as New Era, which has an incredible history and heritage in global sport. As we launch our own in-house retail business, our aim is to curate product ranges that our supporters will really love, and we are sure the New Era collection will be extremely popular.
“The launch of the club’s new e-commerce platform and temporary store marks an exciting step in our retail journey, and we thank fans for their patience and ongoing support as we strive towards a truly exceptional range of kit and merchandise delivered through best-in-class service,” Silverstone concluded.
Paul Gils, vice president of the EMEA at New Era, said, “We are thrilled to be working with Newcastle United for the 2024/25 season, a club that is instantly recognizable by its kit and dedicated global fanbase.
“The new collection pays homage to the club with team colorways and seasonal offerings alongside a limited-edition style that nods to the club’s hometown of Newcastle and St James’ Park stadium—an exciting tribute to the city.”
The club’s current retail arrangements formally ceased on May 27, and its existing stadium store will reportedly undergo a refit this summer.
Founded in 1892, Newcastle United competes in the English Premier League and featured in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League.
Since 1920, New Era has been manufacturing headwear. Today, the company also produces apparel and accessories rooted in sports and reportedly has over 500 licenses in its portfolio. Headquartered in Buffalo, NY, New Era sells its products in over 80 countries.
