Tentree reported it renewed its B Corp Certification in 2023, exceeding its score from its first certification by more than 40 points, scoring 136.2. The entry-level B Corp Impact Assessment score, which measures social and environmental performance, starts at 80 points.
The higher score comes from the company’s B Corp assessment, having improved Governance, Workers, Environment, and Customers sections. The company’s tools measure and reduce environmental impacts in its supply chain, offsetting 100 percent of supply chain emissions.
“Our mission at Tentree has always been to make saving the planet simple,” Derrick Emsley, the CEO and co-founder, said. “We are thrilled to be recertified by B Lab with a significant score improvement and our continued Best for the World designation. This reflects our ongoing commitment to finding innovative ways to protect and restore our planet through our planting efforts, our product and how we build our business. Looking ahead, we are excited to continue finding new and creative ways to lead the restorative business movement.”
In 2022, Tentree was recognized as a “Best for the World” B Corp in the Community category, scoring in the top five percent of B Corps in the corresponding size group.
“After certifying for the first time in 2016, Tentree has emerged as a leader in their community efforts, earning our B Corp 2022 ‘Best for the World Award’ in the Community category,” said Jodi Beasley, senior director of Community. “We’re thrilled to work with Tentree to recertify them as a B Corp— they share our vision for a better future in which corporations work to create a positive impact on the planet and the people on it.”
