Under Armour is introducing soccer boots, launching May 9, 2009, sooner than expected, according to a report from Thomas Weisel Partners. Banner ads on U.S. broadcasts of U.K. Premiere League matches and on soccer-related web sites were promoting the launch this past weekend. Boots will be available for purchase on May 9 with pre-orders beginning April 6.
In his note, Thomas Weisel analyst, Jim Duffy, noted that while a soccer boot was anticipated, Under Armour had not publicly disclosed availability. With the major running footwear launch in January, most didnt expect soccer shoes to be launched until 2010.
