Jim McFarlane, the founder of the cycling apparel brand Endura, and director, Pamela Barclay, announced plans to step back from the day-to-day management of the business. Noah Bernard has been appointed brand director and will lead the company.

McFarlane founded Endura 30 years ago and has managed the brand with Barclay for 15 years. In 2018, they sold Endura to Pentland Brands but agreed to stay on to manage the business. Endura launched its first footwear range in March, making it a head-to-toe cycle apparel brand.

McFarlane and Barclay will remain in the business on a non-executive basis, and Bernard will report to Penny Herriman, chief marketing officer at Pentland Brands, responsible for growing the brand.

Bernard has spent over 25 years in the sports and footwear industry, working in sales, product and marketing for Nike, Puma, Adidas, Clifbar, Pearl Izumi, and Samsung.

Chirag Patel, chief executive officer of Pentland Brands, said, “It’s been fantastic working with Jim and Pam over the past four years. Their passion for the brand and how they continually challenge and disrupt the industry inspires everyone around them, so I’m thrilled they’ve agreed to remain with the business on a non-executive basis. I’m also delighted to welcome Noah to the Pentland and Endura family, and I’m looking forward to seeing where we can take this incredible brand next.”

Jim McFarlane, founder and director, said, “We’ve enjoyed working with Chirag and the leadership team at Pentland. And knowing how capable the team at Endura is feels like the natural time to hand the reins to someone with new energy and a fresh perspective. Noah has a ton of product and marketing expertise, and we’re hugely confident that Endura will continue to progress and be taken to ground-breaking places under his guidance.”

Bernard will be based at Endura’s headquarters in Livingston, Scotland. In May, he joins the business and will work closely with McFarlane and Barclay before they step back from the day-to-day operations.

Founded by McFarlane in 1993, Endura is worn by top road, mountain bike and triathlon teams and riders.
