Industrial Revolution has purchased Pedco, a manufacturer of compact tripods, window clamps and other camera/optical supports and accessories. Pedco joins UCO Candle Lanterns, UCO MightyLites, and Play and Freeze Ice Cream Makers in the family of in-house, Industrial Revolution outdoor brands.
The merger was completed by Keith Jackson, president of Industrial Revolution, and Jon Congdon, owner of Pedco. Both parties are committed to a seamless transition and successful continuation of the Pedco brand under the Industrial Revolution umbrella.
Industrial Revolution has distributed Pedco products in outdoor industry channels since 1987, and will now manufacture and distribute the same products in the photography and military markets, among others. With the acquisition there will be an increased emphasis on new and improved products and packaging. Products will continue to be branded under the Pedco name.
Congdon will work with Industrial Revolution through the transition, staying on post-transition in an engineering and development role. He will be charged with new product development for all brands of Industrial Revolution products. New products will be introduced to the line as early as mid-summer 2008.
“We are excited about this win-win agreement,” said Jackson. “Jon will be free to apply his considerable engineering talents to research and development; and Industrial Revolution will benefit from having his experience and innovation on staff.”
Industrial Revolution also distributes Light My Fire, Grilliput and SwissSpice products, in addition to manufacturing their own under the names UCO, Play and Freeze, and Pedco. The company also established a formal partnership with the Leave No Trace organization in October 2007.
