Costa Sunglasses announced the next generation of its Untangled Collection, sunglasses built from recycled fishing nets.
The four new performance frames are built with NetPlus material that is 97 percent recycled fishing nets and a 3 percent performance additive.
Working with its partner Bureo, Costa uses discarded fishing nets and gives them a new life. Since the original Untangled Collection of lifestyle frames debuted in 2018, Costa continues to further advance its recycling and molding techniques to sustainably build frames for its core consumers—watermen and women.
In addition to the upgraded NetPlus material, which offers a 100 percent traceable supply chain, the new frames (Santiago, Antille, Pargo, and Caleta) feature recycled aluminum logos and recyclable, polarized and color-enhancing 580 mineral glass lenses.
The collection includes:
- Santiago offers a protective, maximum coverage frame designed for anglers. Hooding and side shields prevent light from coming in. Keeper-ready temples and Hydrolite rubber grips keep the frames locked in place, and the vented nose pads help reduce fogging.
- Pargo offers more modern styling with the same technical features as the Santiago.
- Antille is a hybrid frame combining style and performance with the same technical features as the Santiago.
- Caleta offers a feminine silhouette with the same technical features as the Santiago.
