Teva announced its TevaForever campaign in partnership with international recycling and waste management company TerraCycle, to giving well-worn Teva sandals a second life.
Teva’s partnership with TerraCycle is part of its continued commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental impact and keeping products out of landfills.
In 2020, Teva “transitioned 100 percent of its straps to traceable verifiable recycled plastic using Repreve yarn,” said the brand. Since then, it said it has “diverted 24 million plastic bottles from landfills and put them to better use strapping sandals to your feet.” For 2021, Teva sees this number increasing and push its sustainability efforts forward by using more sustainable alternatives for key materials and significantly reducing its environmental footprint.
This leads up to its newest initiative, the TevaForever Recycling Program, in partnership with TerraCycle.
Through the Program, Teva customers have the opportunity to take their well-worn Teva sandals to be recycled into something new. Customers mail in their retired sandals to TerraCycle at no cost, to tbe cleaned, broken down and processed by manufacturers to make new products including “playgrounds, athletic fields and track ground cover,” said the brand.
Teva’s long-term vision is to work towards solutions to one day fully close the loop by recycling old Teva sandals into new ones. For more Program information, go here.
