Adidas officials told a German newspaper that it will reconsider support for the Olympics after the 2008 Beijing Olympics in light of the continued ban by the International Olympic Committee on displays of the Adidas three-band logo on team uniforms.
“After the Olympic games we will reexamine all that does not provide the brand visibility we expect,” Herbert Hainer told the German daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
Adidas provides equipment to 27 of 28 Olympic disciplines, with the exception of equestrian events.
“We are trying to deal with it, and we are still in talks with the IOC,” said Hainer, who acknowledged that the decision was hard to take.
Adidas shoes will continue to sport the three-band logo, he added, “and they will be very visible during the Olympic games.”
