Nordstrom’s Comps Surge 9.4%

Nordstrom Inc. reported July same-store sales rose 9.4%. Total sales
for the four weeks ended Aug. 4 rose 6.9% to $900.5 million from $842.6
million.

Comps rose 9.5% at full-line stores and 11.7% at Rack.

Preliminary second quarter sales of $2.39 billion increased 5.2 percent
compared to sales of $2.27 billion during the same period in fiscal
2006. Second quarter same-store sales increased 5.9 percent.

Preliminary year-to-date sales of $4.34 billion increased 7.0 percent
compared to sales of $4.06 billion during the same period in 2006.
Year-to-date same-store sales increased 7.5 percent.
