Grassroots Outdoor Alliance (GOA) welcomed 10 new members this month increasing the organization to 83 retailers with 187 total doors in 45 states nationwide. GOA said the mark is the largest for the organization and parallels the steady progress of key GOA initiatives including Switchback, a group-wide technology program focused on sales data management and trend analysis for independent specialty retailers.
“At its most basic level, the reason retailers join Grassroots is because it helps them better understand their own business,” said Dana Howe, retailer relations manager for GOA. “As this group of independent business owners continues to grow so does their ability to share, learn and hone in on what’s working and what’s not for specialty retailers.”
With the addition of new members, GOA is highlighting that the total count of GOA storefronts, a total of 187, now exceeds that of several national big-box retailers including REI with 164 doors and Bass Pro/Cabela’s with 169.
“Combined with Grassroots’ growing capabilities in product trend forecasting, the growing geographic scope of Grassroots retail membership is a good sign for the overall economic health of the specialty outdoor industry,” added Howe.
