Reebok will be the official footwear and apparel sponsor of the 2007 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Series for the second consecutive year. A symbolic Pink Ribbon footwear collection will be sold at retailers across the country.
The Avon Walk is a series of weekend-long walking events that take place from May through October in eight cities across the country, attracting tens of thousands of participants who generate funds and awareness to help find a cure for breast cancer. Reebok has worked in conjunction with the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to have the symbolic Pink Ribbon featured on its best walking footwear and apparel. Reebok's Pink Ribbon branded products help raise awareness for the Avon Walks and, in addition, Reebok has made a significant donation to the foundation. The Pink Ribbon collection is being sold at retailers nationwide.
“We are delighted to partner with Reebok for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer,” said Carol Kurzig, executive director, Avon Foundation. “Reebok recognizes the importance of walking for health, and together we can raise awareness and funds that will save lives.”
“Reeboks strong heritage with women, coupled with our brand vision to fulfill individual potential makes us a natural fit as the official footwear sponsor of the Avon Walk,” said Marcy Schwam, Reeboks global director of women's sport.
Cities hosting Avon Walk for Breast Cancer events will carry Pink Ribbon Product in all Reebok Retail locations. The Pink Ribbon collection will be available at retailers such as Bobs Stores, Dick's Sporting Goods, The Sports Authority, Olympia, Modell's, Meijer, Finish Line, East Bay and Sear's. During the summer months and to support Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, retailers carrying the Pink Ribbon collection include Champs, Shoe Carnival, Belk, Academy, Dillard's and Navy as well as online at www.rbk.com.
Reebok will also provide apparel, footwear and accessories for the Avon Walk event staff and will provide all walkers, volunteers, crew and medical staff with T-shirts to further supporting the fundraising effectiveness of the event.
On site at each Avon Walk event, Reebok will host a tent in the “Wellness Village,” which will serve as a “home away from home” for the participants on the Saturday night of their event. At the “Wellness Village,” walkers and spectators can preview and test out Reeboks walking footwear and apparel.
Each Avon Walk event takes place over a weekend, and participants are given the option of walking a marathon (26 miles) or a marathon and a half (39 miles) over a two-day time period.
