About half (47 percent) of retailers expect some downside in revenue due to the coronavirus, according to a survey conducted in March 2020 of 304 retailers by Digital Commerce 360.
A third of retailers say it’s too early to tell; however, a majority of retailers, 58 percent, said the virus will impact consumer confidence, and 22 percent said there will be a significant impact.
Among the retailers surveyed, 44 percent expect product delays due to the coronavirus, and 40 percent expect inventory shortages. Thirty percent suspect that the coronavirus will cause their e-commerce business to be up due to the coronavirus, 36 percent indicated down and 26 percent indicated e-commerce will be as projected.
