Firearms background checks, as adjusted by the NSSF, reached 1,342,155 in November against 1,314,193. in November 2018, a gain of 2.1 percent.
For comparison, the unadjusted November 2019 FBI NICS figure 2,545,863 reflects a 7.7 percent increase from the unadjusted FBI NICS figure of 2,363,705 in November 2018.
The adjusted NICS data were derived by subtracting out NICS purpose code permit checks and permit rechecks used by states for CCW permit application checks as well as checks on active CCW permit databases.
November’s showing marks a slow down from recent months. Firearms background checks, as adjusted by the NSSF, rose 10.0 percent in October, 10.0 percent in September, 15.2 percent in August and 1.1 percent in July. Adjusted checks overall grew 9.1 percent for the third quarter after declining 1.2 percent in the second quarter and 8.5 percent in the first quarter.
