Garth Evans always connected to work. Base of Nasera Rock, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania.

Steamboat Springs, CO, November 18, 2019 – Garth Evans, longtime sales director at camping equipment brand Big Agnes and a fixture in the outdoor industry, easily recognizable for his signature handlebar mustache, is retiring. During his tenure, Big Agnes has grown into a global brand and successfully launched new categories including tents and shelters, apparel and camp furniture. The company is planning a roast in his honor at its annual holiday party.

“Garth’s passion, hard work and devotion to our brand has been fundamental to Big Agnes’ growth and success over the past several years,” said Bill Gamber, co-founder and president of Big Agnes. “His leadership of our sales team and his commitment to our dealers was truly impressive and our reputation in the marketplace is strong because of his efforts. We’re sad to see him move on but we’re looking forward to giving him a proper send-off soon.”

Throughout nearly 35 years in the industry – from working the floor at specialty retail, to domestic manufacturing, to starting his own sales agency, and helping to build Big Agnes – Evans honed his skills and brought a unique perspective to all aspects of sales management. He joined Big Agnes in 2002 as a territory sales representative and transitioned to sales director shortly thereafter.

Big Agnes has initiated a search for Evans’ successor and will continue to work with him during a transition period. Requirements include a love for sleeping in the dirt. Mustaches optional.
