Golfsmith International Holdings, Inc. appointed Glenda Chamberlain, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Whole Foods Market, Inc. to its board of directors.
“We are pleased to add someone of Glenda’s caliber to our board of directors and our audit committee,” said Jim Thompson, president and chief executive officer of Golfsmith. “Her depth of management experience and insight from one of the country’s leading retailers will be invaluable to Golfsmith as we execute our business plan and growth strategy.”
Chamberlain joined Whole Foods Market in 1988 as the chief financial officer. Since that time the company has grown from six stores to 183 stores with more than $4.7 billion in sales for fiscal year 2005, which ended in September 2005. The company has 86 stores in development, and its presence extends throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Whole Foods Market has been recognized for the past nine years as one of Fortune’s Top 100 Places to Work.
Prior to Whole Foods Market, Chamberlain held positions in public accounting, retail and businesses consulting. She holds a B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Texas in Austin.
