Altra is now the Title Sponsor of the Tobacco Road Half Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, March 17, 2019, in Cary, NC along with the Tobacco Road Marathon.
The event is organized by an all-volunteer staff with 100 percent of proceeds going to charities like American Red Cross, Hope For The Warriors, JDRF and Triangle Rails To Trails Conservancy. The event expects to surpass $1 million in charitable giving this year.
“I am so grateful to all our hundreds of volunteers and runners who make this event possible and enable the support we can give our charities,” said Kazem Yahyapour, Tobacco Road Marathon Founder. “We could not do it without them, our all-volunteer board and, of course, sponsors like Altra. To think that we will reach more than a million dollars in just the tenth running of our races is an achievement of which we are very proud. We like to say, ‘Nine years. Ten races. One million dollars!’”
The inaugural Tobacco Road Marathon and Half was held March 21, 2010. For 2019, Yahyapour expects more than 4,000 racers along with 7,000 spectators.
