The Conservation Alliance board elected Strick Walker, chief marketing officer at Merrell, to serve on the organization’s board of directors. Walker was elected by the board of directors to fill a vacancy left by Chaco President Seth Cobb.
Over the past two decades, Walker has worked for a variety of brands and organizations. Prior to Merrell, he served as global marketing director for Patagonia, spent six years in global brand communications at Converse, helped build 1% for the Planet, and spent a few years at design firm IDEO. Strick also served as a board member of Protect Our Winters from 2009 to 2012.
Walker fills the seat vacated by Cobb, who has reached his term limits on The Conservation Alliance board. During his tenure, Cobb chaired the board’s Governance Committee, which manages the organization’s policies and personnel
“Though we are sad to lose Seth, we look forward to adding Strick’s energy and marketing expertise,” said John Sterling, executive director of The Conservation Alliance. “We are fortunate to have so many qualified and passionate people interested in serving on our board.”
Walker’s term will begin with The Conservation Alliance’s annual board/staff retreat, held this week in Bend, OR.
This board transition comes at a time when The Conservation Alliance continues its effort to leverage business voices and resources to protect and defend America’s public lands.
“The outdoor industry cherishes our wildlands and rivers, and our efforts to protect these places is enhanced by great people like Seth and Strick,” said Sterling.
