James Laux, the former president of Laux Sporting Goods with two stores in Western New York, has passed away at the age of 90, according to The Buffalo News.
Laux became president in 1959 after his father, Alphonse, who founded the business, died. His late brother, Richard, became vice president, at the time and they grew the chain to six stores at one point.
James Laux’s son, David, now runs Laux Sporting Goods. The stores are located in Amherst and Cheektowaga.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, Angeline, his son, David, and daughter Kathleen Molnar, survivors include two other daughters, Carol Infanti and JoAnne O’Hara; a sister, Mary Stahl, seven granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
