Brine, Inc. will be the official lacrosse equipment and lacrosse apparel sponsor for the 2nd Annual First 4 Lacrosse Invitational. Scheduled for March 11, 2006 at Torero Stadium at the University of San Diego in San Diego, CA, the event is the first ever Division I mens lacrosse competition to be held at the stadium and only the second in the state of California. The first was the original First 4 competition held at the Home Deport Center in Carson, CA in March 2005.
A supporter of the inaugural First 4, Brine has inked a two-year deal with sports marketing and event management leader, Pantheon International, the organizer of the First 4, making them the official equipment and apparel sponsor for both the 2006 and 2007 events.
“The support that we received for the inaugural First 4 event underscores the degree to which lacrosse has taken root in the West,” says Ray Hilvert, Director of Brand Management for all of Brines sport categories. “This event creates a unique atmosphere to showcase the sport at its most compelling level, as it features some of the premier college lacrosse programs from around the country. We are proud to sponsor this event and will continue to find new ways to bring innovation to the sport of lacrosse in the years to come.”
The 2006 First 4 Invitational will bring together four of the nations top ranked lacrosse teams for an early-season doubleheader pitting Duke against Loyola, then Navy against Bucknell. Both Duke and Bucknell are Brine-sponsored teams.
Prior to the NCAA Division I face-off, the “High School Challenge” will feature ten of the top ranked high school lacrosse teams in California. During the main event, the Brine R & D Team – including Mikey and Casey Powell will host autograph sessions and half-time activities. The first event of its kind on the West Coast, the First 4 is expected to bring in more than 7,200 spectators in its second year.
