Whitney McDowell has joined Simms Fishing Products as Marketing Manager. In this role, McDowell will help drive Simms strategic marketing plans and initiatives.
Whitney brings a strong background of marketing and public relations experience to the company. She spent four years with Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide in Denver, CO, developing and implementing communications programs for local and national clients.
Whitney is also a passionate angler, recently completing a year of flyfishing travels around the world. Her year-long adventure took her to various freshwater and saltwater destinations, including New Zealand, Argentina, Russia, Mongolia, Brazil, Baja and Venezuela. In addition, Whitney has been active in competitive flyfishing over the past few years, including participation in both the OLN Fly Fishing Masters and the ESPN Great Outdoor Games. In 2001, she and her team, WorldCast Anglers, won the ESPN Team Fly Fishing Challenge in Livingston, MT.
“We are delighted that Whitney has joined the Simms team,” states Simms President K.C. Walsh. “Her experience in marketing, coupled with her passion for flyfishing and knowledge of the industry, will be a tremendous asset to our company.”
Whitneys addition will allow Diane Bristol, Director of Marketing & Customer Service at Simms, to focus more time on enhancing customer service through training, shipping methods and repair center initiatives. Diane comments, “Whitney brings a fresh view point on our brand at retail. She has participated in our product field testing and focus group sessions for several years so she understands our brand and the value of this new role.”
