John Hunter, the senior vice president of customer services for QVC Inc., has been elected to serve on the board of directors for GSI Commerce Inc., it was announced today. Hunter fills the seat recently vacated by Randy Ronning.
“John is a welcome addition to our board. His extensive customer service and call center experience deepens our board's operational expertise,” said Michael Rubin, chairman and chief executive officer of GSI Commerce.
Hunter, 54, joined QVC in 1991 as a vice president of customer service. Hunter's current role is that of chief customer officer and advocate and he directs all aspects of QVC's customer focus strategies. He directs more than 7,000 employees who handle more than 130 million calls a year at QVC call center operations in San Antonio, Texas; Chesapeake, Va.; Port St. Lucie, Fla.; West Chester, Pa.; Bochum, Germany; Liverpool, England and Makuhari, Japan. He also oversees corporate support of the distribution centers for QVC's International Division.
Prior to QVC, Hunter was a senior vice president in the credit division of Citibank, where he was employed for nine years. Hunter was also employed by Avis Rent A Car System Inc. for eight years in sales and marketing where he directed development of several domestic and international call centers for the company. Hunter is a member of the advisory board for the Johns Hopkins School of Continuing Studies and chairs the advisory board for the Leadership Development Program at Johns Hopkins University. He is a frequent speaker and a member of the Direct Marketing Association. Hunter holds a bachelor of arts degree in marketing from Pace University in New York City.
