BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. reported that sales for November increased by 5.3% to $621.8 million from $590.6 million in November 2004. On a comparable club basis, sales increased by 1.8% for the month of November, including a contribution from sales of gasoline of 1.2%. Last year, the Company reported a comparable club sales increase of 1.8% for November, including a 1.6% contribution from sales of gasoline.

The Company provided the following additional information regarding November 2005 sales for BJ's Wholesale Club:

Comparable club sales increases were highest in week one, due primarily to the positive effect of the Halloween calendar shift, and softest in week three.

By major region, comparable club sales increased in Upstate New York, the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast, and decreased slightly in New England and Metro New York.

On a comparable club basis, excluding sales of gasoline, traffic decreased by approximately 4% and the average transaction amount increased by approximately 4%.

On a comparable club basis, sales of food increased by approximately 6% and general merchandise sales decreased by approximately 5%.

Merchandise categories with the strongest sales increases compared to last year included household chemicals, coffee, paper products, produce, residential furniture, soda & water and televisions. Weaker categories versus last year included computer equipment, giftware, DVDs, small appliances and toys.
