Merrell will open the doors of its first U.S. retail store in Huntington, New York on Saturday, December 10, 2005. The 1,100 sq. foot store, located about 40 miles outside New York City and in the heart of Huntington Village, will carry more than 350 styles of men's, women's and kids’ footwear in addition to Merrell Packs and Bags. Merrell, originally known as a brand for core outdoor enthusiasts, has successfully transitioned into a lifestyle brand, celebrating its 25th anniversary next year.

“The opening of our first U.S. retail store is an important milestone that further establishes Merrell as a dynamic leader in the footwear category,” said Keith Anderson, director of marketing for Wolverine World Wide’s Outdoor Group. “Consumers will experience a total Merrell environment and will see a more complete offering of Merrell product all in one venue. We chose Huntington because of its excellent retail environment, its attractive location, and the colleges nearby. Culturally it is a good fit because the residents embrace the outdoors, and have an appreciation for the function-oriented style that Merrell provides.”

“We have been selling Merrell for 8-10 years though the Renarts store and Merrell customers are the most loyal customers we have come across,” said Ankur Amin, co-owner of the Merrell Store. “We are very excited to bring the Merrell store to downtown Huntington. believe Merrell is the perfect fit for this community.”

Merrell’s footwear line is divided into two categories, Outventure, designed for outdoor enthusiasts, and Transit, lifestyle offerings that easily transition from work, to play to travel. Merrell’s Packs and Bags is a collection of packs that takes outdoor devotees to and from their outdoor adventures and bags that are urban-inspired for everyday use. This line pays special attention to design intelligence, protection, and comfort.
