Swiftwick, the performance sock company, announced the company has signed Connor Fields, BMX Olympic Gold Medalist, as the company’s newest elite athlete.

Born in Plano, TX, Fields began competing in bike motocross at the age of seven after his mother saw a flyer advertising the local BMX track at a bike shop near their home in Las Vegas. In 2012 he represented the United States in the men’s BMX event in the London Summer Olympics and placed seventh. He represented the U.S. again at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he became the first American to win an Olympic BMX gold.

“As an Olympic gold medalist and current number one pro, Connor is at the top of his sport and a great test of our products,” said Chuck Smith, Swiftwick president. “As an athlete-managed company, performance is our currency and Connor takes our presence in cycling and BMX to a new level. I grew up racing and still hit gate practice occasionally, so this is a particularly fun addition to our team. The 12-year-old in me is stoked!”

Fields will be representing the Swiftwick team through February 2019 and will be participating in several campaigns and social events. A longtime Swiftwick fan, Fields is also an avid supporter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation and JoyProm, which organizes proms for kids with special needs.

“When I started wearing Swiftwicks I was instantly surprised by how much better they are to ride in than just your average sock.” said Fields. On a bike you only have two points of contact, the hands and feet, and it’s important to have those be comfortable if you want to ride your best. I am stoked to be partnering with Swiftwick and can’t wait to develop my own signature sock!”

Swiftwick will be collaborating with Fields on a new product line this fall.
