Columbia Sportswear, Sorel and Manzella gloves recently signed on to sponsor Winter Trails, one of the nation’s most extensive “introductory snow sports programs”. The sponsorships also support Winter Trails’ companion program, Winter Feels Good, the national public awareness campaign that promotes the health, fitness and social benefits of snow sports. W.L. Gore and Associates continues for the third year as the official outerwear sponsor for Winter Feels Good and Winter Trails.

“We are very pleased to have these companies on board for this season,” said Mary Jo Tarallo, director of education and special projects for SIA. “One of the strongest messages of Winter Feels Good and Winter Trails is how to dress properly for an enjoyable winter outdoor activity. Having these excellent companies as sponsors gives us an opportunity to really demonstrate getting back to basics on appropriate attire for winter sports.”

Winter Trails, set for January 7, 2006, provides the ideal opportunity for newcomers and winter sports enthusiasts to try snowshoeing and cross country skiing free at nearly 100 locations in the U.S. and Canada. The Winter Feels Good campaign concentrates on increasing snow sports participation and moving product by leveraging partnerships and relationships with the education field, government agencies, community and health organizations that focus on getting children and adults more active.

Additional program sponsors are Atlas Snowshoes, Alpina, Atomic, Cross Country Skier, Exel, Fischer, Karhu, Mountain Safety Research (MSR), Nature Valley, Redfeather, Rossignol, Salomon, snowshoemagazine.com, SkiTrax magazine, Swix, Tubbs Snowshoes, Whitewoods, and XCResorts.com. Winter Trails is managed by SnowSports Industries America (SIA) in conjunction with the Cross Country Ski Areas Association (CCSAA) and the American Hiking Society (AHS).
