Black Diamond Equipment and the Uinta Brewing Company, are sponsoring the twelfth annual fund-raiser party to benefit the Utah Avalanche Center. Slated for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22nd at Black Diamond in Salt Lake City, the festivities will include dinner from Barbacoa Mexican Grill, the music of Zion Tribe and a silent auction featuring generous donations from various outdoor manufacturers.
“The Annual UAC Fund Raiser is the celebration of the Wasatch backcountry
skiing community,” explains Colleen Graham, Friends of the UAC President and
Marketing Operations Director at Black Diamond. “It brings everyone
together, triggers ski dreams across the Wasatch and marks a collective
mental shift from summer climbing and biking mindsets to skiing mentality.”
The Utah Avalanche Center is responsible for providing daily avalanche
advisories for the Wasatch Front. Federal funding cuts force the Center to
run on a season-by-season basis, and fortunately the Center has been able to
operate for the past ten years due to the community response by backcountry
users and local and national businesses.
“The UAC Fundraiser is a key
component to our season,” explains Bruce Tremper, Director of the UAC. “For
years, Black Diamond has spearheaded this effort and raised significant
dollars that contribute to the Friends of the Avalanche Center, which in
turn funds forecasting and educational programs.”
Tickets are $30 per person if purchased by September 10th ($35 at the door).
Buying an advance ticket will enter you into the raffle. Advance tickets are
available at the Black Diamond Retail Store (2084 East 3900 South). All
proceeds will be donated to the Utah Avalanche Center.
