Helinox, the Korean-based leader in high-performance collapsible furniture, has announced plans to launch a U.S.-based subsidiary, Helinox USA. The initiative will be led by industry veterans Sally McCoy and Ted Ganio, with McCoy serving as the executive chair of the board and Ganio as CEO. The team will be responsible for the Americas, with headquarters being established in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Since 2011, sales and distribution in North America has been managed by Big Agnes, who will continue to service the brand through October 2018. The transition will be effective for the Spring 2019 season, with Helinox USA selling-in the 2019 product line at relevant trade shows going forward.
“We are grateful to the entire team at Big Agnes” said Young Lah, global CEO of Helinox. “They have done a great job launching the brand in the United States.”
“The Helinox brand is built upon a foundation of outstanding design and premium quality and I’m very excited to have been asked to lead its continuing evolution,” added Ganio.
Together Ganio and McCoy have extensive experience in the outdoor business. Ganio began his career at A16 and has worked for Sierra Design, Adventure Medical Kits, Mountain Hardwear and Camelbak. McCoy has served in a variety of senior positions at Camelbak (CEO), Sierra Designs (President) and The North Face (VP).
