Marty Lillis, founder of Franklin Resource Group, has announced that effective immediately board member and industry veteran, H. Peter Goehrig, is assuming the position of President of the company. Goehrig and Lillis have worked together in various capacities for over a decade.

“Franklin Resource Group provides in-store merchandising and product knowledge clinics for brands in the sporting goods, outdoor and active lifestyle channels of trade. Peter’s run several companies in our industry. He gets it,” stated Lillis. “I worked as part of the ASICS team that Peter led 10 years ago. People worked hard. The company grew. Everyone had fun. Peter knows how to build a team and a company at the same time.”

Previously, Goehrig was president of his own company, Silvertip Consulting Associates. According to Lillis, “Franklin will absorb the parts of Silvertip that will assist Franklin in its growth plans.”

Franklin has plans to grow both internally and through alliances and acquisitions. According to Lillis, “We have very aggressive goals. Franklin is a business model that had never been done in our industry. We knew it was a niche just waiting to be filled. We believe that our services can encompass not only merchandising but also information and research. It’s a giant opportunity. Peter’s background makes him the perfect candidate to lead Franklin in these next steps.”

Goehrig added, “Since my first job out of Harvard Business School, at General Foods, I learned the importance of merchandising and brand positioning at the store level. In the food and mass markets, this service isn’t a luxury, but a mandatory component of doing business.”

Goehrig continued, “With the proliferation of national chains in our industry, the service Franklin provides is becoming necessary to insure brand awareness and drive consumption. It’s exciting to be a part of Franklin’s next phase in creating an expanded business model that, at the end of the day, will drive sales for our clients. And that’s what it’s all about.”
