British Brand x Norwegian Heritage
Jöttnar was born in Arctic Norway and is the creation of two former Royal Marine commandos and lifelong mountaineers, climbers and skiers.
As commandos, Jöttnar Founders Tommy Kelly (left) and Steve Howarth (right) specialized in mountain and extreme cold weather warfare, often training in the Arctic circle. They were together in the Norwegian mountains during a fierce Arctic winter when inspiration took hold — the development of technical outdoor clothing that would protect against the raging brutality around them, while capturing the elegance of the Scandinavian landscape.
Since launching in 2013, Jöttnar has withstood the demands of the most exacting users in the most ferocious conditions. Photos from the brand’s Lookbook 17/18 above and here.
Clean lines combined with craftsmanship, technology and attention to detail are garment hallmarks. Jöttnar produces tightly focused collections in limited quantities for pro athletes and customers in a manner that they would wish to be treated.

Jöttnar’s Pro Team pass on their frontline experience to create the gear that bears the Jöttnar logo. Their ideas and feedback allow the brand to focus on the demands of those who live and work in the mountains and to ensure that what is produced has been validated by the most challenging of users in the most demanding conditions.
