Golf & Tennis Pro Shop, Inc. has announced that it will open its first Atlanta-area PGA TOUR Superstore with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the store on March 17 at 9 a.m. The approximately 65,000 square-foot store is located on Holcomb Woods Parkway in Roswell, Ga., just one-half mile east of highway GA400, at the intersection of Holcomb Bridge Road and Old Alabama Road.
Representatives from the PGA TOUR, GTPS and the city of Roswell will be in
attendance, and the public is invited to attend. The PGA TOUR Superstore
will open for business immediately after the ribbon cutting. Store hours
will be from 9 a.m to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and Sunday from 11
a.m. to 6 p.m.
When it opens, the PGA TOUR Superstore will be the largest golf store in
the Atlanta area. Computerized swing simulators and launch monitors will be
available to analyze a golfer's swing speed, ball trajectory, launch angle
and impact zone. Game improvement tools such as the SST PureT Shaft
Alignment System (PUREing) and the Balance-Certified – Golf's Motion
Balancing Adjustment SystemT will be available to adapt clubs to each
individual's needs. A revolutionary new approach to golf training,
Accelerized Golf, with its HotLinesT technology, will also be available.
Indoor hitting bays will enable golfers to “test drive” clubs and PGA of
America professionals and instructors will be on staff to provide lessons
and guide club fitting.
The PGA TOUR Superstore will also be home to SERIOUS TENNIS, a
store-within-a-store. It will be the largest tennis shop in the Atlanta
area, encompassing 7,500 square feet dedicated to tennis apparel, equipment
and instruction. The Superstore strategy for tennis is similar to the
strategy for golf – all aspects of customer service will be provided by
experienced tennis professionals.
“We are very excited to be opening our first store in the Atlanta area,
which is our hometown,” said Jorge Cora, chief financial officer of GTPS,
and one of the group of former Home Depot executives and PGA of America
professionals who make up GTPS' management team. “We have a very unique
concept that focuses on game improvement, and we've created a highly
interactive atmosphere that's both high tech and great fun. Our selection
of merchandise is the largest in town with all the major brands and sizes
to fit any shape. The PGA TOUR Superstore is different than any other
sports store you've ever visited, and it's a must see for any serious
golfer or tennis player.”
“The PGA TOUR is very excited about the potential of this new relationship
with GTPS” said Leo McCullagh, Vice President of Retail Licensing. We are
confident that they will demonstrate that their concept for golf retail is
unique and will allow thousands of golfers to be able to improve their
games and shop in a retail environment that is a must see.
The Roswell store is the first in a planned national expansion of the PGA
TOUR Superstore concept, which was born in 2003 when GTPS joined forces
with the PGA TOUR. The company's first stores were two 65,000 square-foot
“Martin's Golf & Tennis Superstores,” purchased in the Myrtle Beach. S.C.
area in 2004.
