Garmin to Acquire JL Audio

Garmin, Ltd. reported it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire JL Audio, a privately-held U.S. company that designs and manufactures audio solutions for marine, aftermarket automotive, powersports, home, and RV customers.

Clarus Lowers Outlook as Q2 Sales Decline 27 Percent

Clarus Corp. trimmed its outlook for the year after reporting second-quarter results fell below analyst expectations due to promotional pressure and prolonged inventory de-stocking. Sales were down 27 percent, sliding 24 percent at Black Diamond, 27 percent at the Sierra/Barnes ammunition segment and 34 percent at its Adventure segment (Rhino-Rack, Maxtrax).

Topo Designs Names New CEO

Topo Designs, the Colorado-based outdoor brand, promoted Matt Williams, effective immediately, to CEO. Previously Williams was the company’s chief operating officer. He succeeds Co-Founder Mark Hansen, who is retaining his seat on Topo Designs’ Board of Directors.

Havaianas Parent Sees 13 Percent Revenue Drop in Q2

Brazil’s Alpargatas reported a loss against a profit in the second quarter ended June 30 as sales fell 13 percent to R$(Brazil Real)926.4 million ($189mm). In the U.S., sales of Havaianas were down 13.9 percent while Rothys’ revenues slid 8.6 percent.

While some still see an uphill battle for Adidas to regain share in the competitive landscape, the majority of analysts covering the stock were encouraged by the progress the company made in the second quarter toward a turnaround, including building momentum in its underlying business on the back of the “terrace” trend.
