Zumiez reported comp store sales increased 1.7% for the four-week period on top of a 12.4% gain for the comp period last year. Total net sales for fiscal January decreased 11.7% to $20.7 million from $23.4 million in the five-week 2006 month. On a four-week basis, net sales increased 16.3% from $17.8 million last year.

Total sales growth for the four weeks was driven by new stores and comparable store sales gains, which was driven by an increase in average unit retail, offset by a slight decrease in comp store transactions. Men's and miscellaneous accessories sales were the strongest positive contributors for the month, somewhat offset by negative same-store sales performances from the shoe and snow hardgoods departments. The company ended the four-week period with a store count of 285 stores.
