Zappos.com has launched its first catalog, Zappos Life. About 750,000
copies are being mailed as part of a holiday campaign. The
48-page catalog focuses on footwear, handbags, jewelry, clothing and
fragrances.

According to an article in The New York Times, Zappos tested two catalogs
earlier this year before the Zappos Life formal launch. The catalog can
also be read at zapposlife.com.

“Different people respond to different media,” Aaron Magness, director
for brand marketing and business development at Zappos.com, told the
Times.

The catalogs are published for Zappos by King Fish Media. An executive at
King Fish said that so far, the average order from the catalog is over
twice the size of an average order that began on zappos.com.

According to Magness, Zappos is planning a spring 2010 catalog and
exploring themed catalogs such as “weddings, in June, or housewares,
around Thanksgiving.”
